So this is it. This is the initial launch of “2 Feet 1 Goal, Inc.” to see how much we can raise, how many lives we can change and if there is any potential for further fundraising.
Using Soccer To Change Lives
Have you ever wanted to make a difference in this world?
The second cause is directly related but on a much larger scale. When I went back in January, I piggybacked off a trip that the Rock Church, San Diego was doing. They were going on an “exploratory mission trip” to see how they could make a major impact on the community long after their week of serving. They went in thinking they would do some construction and build buildings but found that the biggest need was to reach the men in Uganda. The Rock feels that if they could capture the men’s heart for Jesus and instill a good work ethic and strong morals, the men could become more resilient heads of household and give their families hope and possibly a better life. Since soccer is the number one sport in the world, the Rock Church is going to entice the men and the community with a citywide soccer tournament and they asked me and 2 Feet 1 Goal to fund it. WOW! This is HUGE and beyond anything I can do alone.
The citywide soccer tournament will be held in Masaka, Africa, the same city that changed my life four years ago. (Crazy, right?!) There will be an opening ceremony, referee fees, field fees, training fees, fees, fees, fees. There will be a closing ceremony with the top two teams and the winner gets a cow. I will also be buying 6 goats to distribute to other winners. It’s in the closing ceremonies that the Rock Church will come in and host their Men’s Ministry and launch a Pastoral Support Program. They are going to use the citywide tournament to draw the crowd. My hope is to draw so many teams, players and spectators that the Rock Church has no idea what hit them and God has to take over.
